Ernst Plank was a big builder of live steam locomotives. He also made stationary models and magic lanterns. The company was founded in 1866 and was one of the earliest builders of model steam engines maybe even the first!
Schaller brothers purchased the company in 1935, although this may have been prompted by the anti-Semitism that
was rising in Germany at the time. Schaller was primarily a projector/ film equipment manufacturer
Plank had the unique habit of giving formal names to some of it's engines.
